The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) conveyed serious reservations to the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) over the non-implementation of its concerns on key public issues, but the two coalition partners agreed to bridge their differences and continue working together on matters of national interest. The understanding was reached at a meeting of the coordination committees of the PPP and PML-N at the Governor House Lahore, convened to ease tensions between the two allies.

The PPP delegation comprised former prime minister Raja Pervez Ashraf, Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider Khan, Hassan Murtaza, Qamar Zaman Kaira and Ali Qasim Gilani. The PML-N delegation included Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar, National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Prime Minister's Adviser on Political Affairs Rana Sanaullah, Senator Anusha Rahman, Khawaja Saad Rafique and Punjab Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb. The two sides agreed to hold regular meetings to discuss outstanding issues, address reservations and resolve differences through mutual consultation.

During the meeting, the PPP raised concerns over the delay in local government elections, inflation, petroleum prices, loadshedding and problems faced by farmers. The party also complained about the non-implementation of decisions and recommendations agreed upon at previous meetings and expressed displeasure over what it described as a lack of progress in addressing its reservations. The PML-N assured its coalition partner that its concerns would be addressed.

Both sides agreed that political differences should not affect the functioning of the coalition government and reaffirmed their commitment to cooperation on matters of national interest and political stability. The meeting also discussed the future course of action and other matters relating to the coalition government.
