Security forces and law enforcement agencies have launched a crackdown on Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders and activists ahead of the party's planned nationwide protest on September 27. The government's security strategy aims to maintain public order and counter expected attempts by PTI workers to march towards Islamabad to demand the release of PTI founder Imran Khan. In the initial phase of the operation, the authorities have placed over 100 active PTI workers under preventive detention. Sources confirm that detention orders for 106 individuals were issued under Section 3 of the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) Ordinance, following recommendations by the District Intelligence Committee. The rounded-up activists include 35 from Attock, 31 from Rawalpindi, 23 from Chakwal, 13 from Jhelum, and four from Wah Cantt. All of them have been sent to Adiala Jail for 30 days.

Senior police officials emphasised that strict measures were being taken to prevent any disruption to public peace. SSP Operations Qazi Ali Raza said a phased crackdown was underway targeting the PTI's local and national leadership, alongside party elements suspected of involvement in activities threatening law and order. The Islamabad Police will act decisively against anyone attempting to create unrest, regardless of their position or political affiliation. Detailed lists of second-tier leaders and key activists identified as potential security risks have already been compiled for further action.

Law enforcement agencies are preparing additional legal and physical countermeasures, including potential provisions under Section 144, 3-MPO, and Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA). A central focus of the operational security plan involves completely sealing the strategic Attock Bridge to block protesters from crossing into Punjab from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where the PTI leadership continues to mobilise support.

The authorities are also putting contingencies in place to counter reports that protest convoys intend to deploy heavy machinery to clear roadblocks and barriers along the route. Security officials maintained that administrative readiness remained fully capable of thwarting any unlawful entry or breach of public safety restrictions.
