The National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has recovered 66 kanals and 11 marlas of amenity land from a private housing society in Peshawar and transferred it to the Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA) Shah Alam. The recovered land has an estimated current market value of Rs1.86 billion.

According to NAB sources, efforts are under way, in collaboration with relevant departments, to retrieve amenity plots reserved for public facilities from private housing societies and transfer them to relevant local regulatory authorities.

As part of the initiative, 66 kanals and 11 marlas of land in Khazana Greens, a housing society in Mouza Khazana, Tehsil Shah Alam, District Peshawar, were successfully transferred and mutated in favour of TMA Shah Alam. The land was designated for public utilities and civic infrastructure, including parks, roads, graveyards, and public buildings. NAB documents put the present market value of the recovered amenity land at Rs1.863 billion.

The recovery is being described as a significant step towards protecting public property and enforcing urban planning regulations in private housing schemes. A NAB KP official stated that space reserved for civic infrastructure in private schemes must be transferred to state regulatory authorities to ensure that land earmarked for public facilities is protected and used for its designated purposes.
