The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has witnessed a major shake-up, with postings and transfers of more than 50 officers and promotion of four officers from Grade-19 to Grade-20. The notifications regarding the development were issued late Friday night for the ECP Secretariat here and its provincial election commissions.
The notification states that the four officers were promoted on the recommendations of the Central Selection Board and with the approval of the appointing authority. The promotions have been made without prejudice to the seniority of officers senior to them whose cases have been deferred or who have been superseded. Except for those superseded, the officers will retain their inter-se seniority. As many as 55 officers in Grade-17, eight in Grade-18 and one in Grade-19 have been transferred and posted with immediate effect and until further orders in the ECP Secretariat and in the four provinces.
Fazal Hakeem, a BS-19 officer presently serving as Regional Election Commissioner, Peshawar, has been promoted to BS-20 against the departmental promotion quota with immediate effect and until further orders. Similarly, Abdullah, a BS-19 officer presently serving as Director (Elections) in the office of the Provincial Election Commissioner, Balochistan, Khurshid Alam, a BS-19 officer presently serving as Director to the Chief Election Commissioner in the ECP Secretariat and Nazar Abbas, a BS-19 officer presently serving as Additional Director General (Electoral Rolls) (OPS) in the ECP Secretariat have also been promoted to BS-20 against the departmental promotion quota with immediate effect and until further orders. Nazar Abbas will remain ADG (ERs).
The notification says the above officers shall be on probation for a period of one year, which may be further extended. The notification was issued with the approval of Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja. As regards postings and transfers, Syed Waseem Ahmad Jafri, a Grade-20 officer who was serving as Joint Provincial Election Commissioner (Elections), Balochistan, has now been posted with the same responsibility in Sindh. Following his promotion, Fazal Hakeem has been posted as Additional DG (Elections) in the ECP Secretariat here. He was previously serving as Regional Election Commissioner in Peshawar.
